Silicone rubber compounding is the main raw material for producing silicone products. It is mainly formed by adding vulcanizing agent to silicone rubber compounding and then thermally cured at high temperature. There are many different ways of forming silicone products. Today, we will introduce several ways of forming silicone products.
It is currently the main production method for most silicone products. The production process is to put silicone rubber compounding raw materials into two mold cores, and then high-temperature compress and vulcanize it after the mold is closed. Currently, the compression molding production process of rubber compounding is mainly suitable for silicone products with certain size restrictions, such as the popular silicone shell covers of ice cream sticks, the mousetrap, and phone cases, all of which are produced using compression molding technology.
Extrusion molding process is a vulcanization molding process using an oven. The process is to put silicone rubber compounding raw materials into a mold, extrude them into a certain shape, and then vulcanize them in an oven for a short time. Extrusion molding process is suitable for silicone products without length restrictions, such as silicone pipes, silicone strips, etc. which are all produced by extrusion molding process.
The calendering molding process is a high-temperature vulcanization molding process using a roller. The production process is to put rubber compounding raw materials into a roller, squeeze them into a flat shape, and repeatedly vulcanize them on the roller at high temperature. The calendering molding process is mainly suitable for silicone products that are not limited in length but have certain width and thickness limits, such as silicone sheets, which are produced using calendering process.
This molding process is relatively uncommon and mainly used in the production of silicone rubber rolls. The production process is to wrap silicone rubber compounding raw materials around the iron core of the rubber roll, and then vulcanize them for 10-15 hours in hot air. Hot air vulcanization molding process is mainly used in the production of silicone rubber rolls and is not suitable for other silicone products.
In summary, the vulcanization molding process of silicone rubber compounding mainly includes four types: compression molding, extrusion molding, calendering molding, and hot air vulcanization molding. In the production of silicone products, most products are produced using compression molding technology, followed by compression molding and calendering molding, while hot air vulcanization molding technology is relatively uncommon.
